Spectacular, feminine and airy. Perhaps these are the words that best describe rhythmic gymnastics, the European Championships of which were recently held in Budapest. The Rhythmic Gymnastics Department of the Hungarian Gymnastics Association asked the Sugarbird team to design the national team's competition uniform. The end result of their collaboration was not only loved by the competing ladies, but was also a huge success among the audience. The popular Hungarian fashion company has returned to its iconic Czukormadár to the pattern, and designer Ádám Baranyi finalized the cut of the competition dress.
“A few months ago, the Rhythmic Gymnastics Department of the Hungarian Gymnastics Association approached us to design the national team’s competition uniform, as they particularly liked a previous design. Czukormadár body. Incidentally, this iconic piece was adapted from a Richelieu tablecloth, with a lace base. So we made the demo piece for them from this, and then the discussions regarding the style began. From now on, we had to make a performance, i.e. competition outfit, which has very strict rules in the world of rhythmic gymnastics. I'm thinking, for example, of the size of the flag, the proportions of the cutouts, the linings, the length of the skirt, etc. Precise rules must be met, so it was a very serious work process that required several trials, which both parties were happy to do. From the moment the sample piece met the competition rules, production began in the Sugarbird sewing room. Congratulations to the girls, we proudly supported them during the European Championships!” – said Ádám Baranyi, designer of Sugarbird.
