The popular Hungarian brand surprised us with an exciting fashion show.

The international fashion world is undoubtedly experiencing one of its most exciting periods, as fashion weeks are already well underway. Paris, Budapest, New York, Milan, and many other capitals are where fashion events take center stage during the months of January and February. The biggest brands showcase their seasonal collections, and Sugarbird, a Hungarian fashion company, is no exception. This time, Sugarbird announced its own standalone online fashion show. Thus, in February, the veil was lifted on the latest Sugarbird collection, which draws inspiration from the Csángó folk costumes.

Let's recall the popular reception when Sugarbird's design team first worked with the Hungarian Matyó pattern. Since then, we've been delighted to see artistic interpretations of Kalocsa Richelieu, Transylvanian Kalotaszeg, and traditional blue-dye patterns from the fashion company. Will they offer an authentic surprise this year as well? We asked Jagasics v. Csonka Hedvig, the founder and owner of Sugarbird, who has never hidden her mission to make Hungarian styles fashionable.

"The Kalotaszeg folk costume was the first among those of Transylvanian origin that we processed, but we knew then that we wanted to thoroughly explore the Csángó for our own collection. Újkígyós has been a very important milestone in my life filled with inspiration and creativity. For me and for some time now, for my colleagues as well, it is an artistic place where we truly receive the inspiration we need for our work. There, we are surrounded by many creative people, including Imre Harangozó, who I believe is one of the country's most outstanding ethnographers. He created a brilliant museum in Újkígyós, where he exhibits his own collection, which he has managed to accumulate over the years. When the Sugarbird team first visited him to be guided through the beautiful world of Transylvanian folk costumes, he explained to us exactly how many types of folk costumes we are talking about. The Csángó immediately captivated us, having a huge impact on us from a designer's perspective. The wonderful patterns, colors, and material usage all hide excitements and traditions, which we naturally incorporated into our Csángó collection in the Sugarbird way. We were eagerly anticipating the fashion show, where the collection, the result of months, or rather years of work, could finally debut," shared Jagasics v. Csonka Hedvig with us.

Just imagining bringing a lesser-mentioned folk costume like the Csángó into the fashion world is promising in itself. From the designs, we get the latest shapes for the year 2024, but the authentic motifs of the Csángó can also rightfully take their place again. However, the biggest news is undoubtedly that this time, we don't have to wait long months to get our hands on the exciting pieces of the Sugarbird Csángó collection, as it will arrive at the beginning of March.

We, too, are eagerly awaiting the exact date of the Sugarbird online fashion show, which will surely have VIP access for everyone. Just the thought of elevating a rarely mentioned folk costume like the Csángó into the fashion world is promising in itself. From the styles, we will get the latest shapes for the year 2024, but the authentic motifs of the Csángó can finally be given their rightful place. However, the biggest news is undoubtedly that this time we will not have to wait long months to get our hands on the exciting pieces of the Sugarbird Csángó collection, as they will be made available online and in stores immediately following the presentation.
